On Creativity, Imperfection and Moving Forward

"It isn't the mountain ahead that wears you out; it's the grain of sand in your shoe." Yup.

Habits are hard, I mean difficult, to break. For example, at the moment I'm editing while writing. But it's a tough habit to break - should I edit that reference to my primary school teacher in the first sentence?

This blog is up for renewal this week. Ten days ago Facebook Memories reminded me that I publicly announced I wanted to launch a blog... a year ago. I've spent a year adding, tweaking, deleting, procrastinating, re-thinking and re-designing.

I haven't made much progress over the last year, and 20 minutes later, I'm still thinking about that first sentence. This was meant to be an exercise in stretching my creativity, forming habits and actually sharing something personal online, even if it's not perfect. Especially if it's not perfect.

Here's to changing habits though, beating procrastination and moving outside my comfort zone by hitting publish. And leaving that niggling first sentence alone.

Done is better than perfect. Every time.

Have you had any issues overcoming perfectionism?
